Exemptions, A Special Decision for Diplomatic and Consular

Pursuant to the powers authorized to me under Article (150) of the Customs Law No. (20) of the year 1998, I decide to determine the maximum limit for some kinds of the exempted imports with regard to the diplomatic and consular parties according to the following:

Article (1):

Embassies, Legations, and Non-Honorary Consulates
1- Two cars for each body, and this can be increased when necessary.
2- Requirements of the body for official use like (furniture, supplies, stationery, and clerical materials).
3- Ten different boxes of spirituous liquor for National Day in the name of the head of the mission provided that the ceremony is held.

Article (2):

Members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corpses
1. Six boxes of spirituous liquor every three months.
2. Twelve boxes of beer every three months.
3. 7000 cigarettes every three months.
4. The beneficiary shall not benefit from the exemption mentioned in items (1,2,3) above if the benefiting from the exemption has not used during the quarter of the year where the exemption is required.
5. An electrical Piece of each type, which is exchangeable every five years.
6. Sufficient foodstuffs.
7. One car that is exchangeable every three years, and a car under temporary entry status for the wife of the married diplomat.

Article (3):

Heads of the Diplomatic and Consular Corpses
1. Double the quantity of spirituous liquor and cigarettes specified for other diplomats, excluding what has been mentioned in item (3) Article (1) above.
2. Two cars in the name of the head of the mission, and what he needs from other materials upon a recommendation from Foreign Ministry and approval of the Director.

Article (4):

The Exemptions mentioned above shall be granted upon a recommendation from Foreign Ministry and approval of the Department.

Article (5):

The exemptions mentioned in these instructions may be increased by virtue of a decision made foe each separate case upon a recommendation from the Director.
