Maj. Gen. Jalal Al-Qudah, Director General of Jordan Customs Department (JCD), accompanied by his Assistant for Compliance and Facilitation Affairs and a team of directors at the Department, conducted a workplace inspection tour to a number of customs centers, namely Airport Customs Center-cargo, Airport Customs Center-passengers and Free Zone Customs center - Al-Mushatta.
The tour comes as part of a series of inspection tours to several locations to discuss issues of common interest and increase communication with all relevant authorities, especially the private sector, with the view to promote and stimulate the investment environment and provide further facilitations cross-borders movement of goods
During a meeting held in the Al-Mushatta Free Zone, with the presence of Abdul Hamid Gharaibeh, Director General of the Free Zones, Al-Qudah met with a number of investors and representatives from the clearance sector to share observations and current issues assessments to work out appropriate solutions within the customs legislations in force.
On the other hand, Al-Qudah, in presence of the head of the Royal Jordanian Air Cargo Department, met with representatives from express carrier companies, clearance companies and private airlines at the Airport Cargo Customs Center. The meeting focused on many issues related to the clearance of imported goods and the movement of commercial freight including postal parcels.
Weighting the observations and comments exchanged during the meeting, JCD Director General said that the Department always sought to develop and updated its procedures and operations through automation and utilization of up-to-date technology in goods clearance process. "The National Window for Trade Project and its great impact on trade, especially at Cargo airport Customs center, is one example of such approach," he added.
At Al-Mushatta Free Zone Customs Center, the Director General was briefed on the workflow and standard customs procedures at the specialized clearance units therein. The tour also covered the passengers' airport where he commended the level of cooperation and coordination between all security agencies working there.
